WallEX Debuts at IFA 2026, Showcasing AI‑Powered Smart‑Space Interaction

From September 4 to 8, IFA 2026 was held in Berlin, Germany. Under the theme "AI FOR USE, AI FOR TRUST," iFLYTEK showcased products including the WallEX smart space solution, AI Note, and AI glasses, demonstrating how AI can be applied in real-life and workplace scenarios. Among them, the WallEX smart space solution, powered by the SpaceMind Agent architecture for smart spaces, became a highlight of the booth. Through immersive scenario-based experiences, it showed how AI is moving beyond digital interaction and into physical spaces.

 

As smart devices become increasingly common in homes, hotels, offices, and other environments, users have more devices to manage, but interaction has not necessarily become simpler. In the past, users often had to tell each device exactly what to do. When AI can understand complex needs, perceive its surroundings, and coordinate devices, users may only need to tell the space what they want.

At IFA, iFLYTEK used WallEX to demonstrate a new way of interacting with smart spaces, shifting users from controlling devices to expressing their needs.

 

One Natural-Language Request, Coordinated Response Across the Space

At the WallEX booth, iFLYTEK created a real-world smart space experience. Users could simply express their needs in natural language, without memorizing complex commands or operating lights, curtains, air conditioning, and other devices one by one. AI could understand their intent and coordinate multiple devices across the space.

 

At the booth, a German visitor walked into the experience area and casually said, "I like the feeling of the ocean." This was not a specific device command, but an everyday expression of preference. The space understood the intent and responded immediately: the curtains opened slightly to let in sunlight, the lighting shifted toward blue, and the air-conditioning airflow increased a little to recreate the feeling of a sea breeze.

The SpaceMind Agent for smart spaces can understand the scenario intent behind such a request, plan tasks based on the surrounding environment, and then use WallEX to connect and coordinate devices, translating the user's words into concrete responses throughout the space.

 

As an important part of the WallEX ecosystem, Nurmina ambient lighting can turn AI-interpreted scenario intent into dynamic lighting effects. With core capabilities including zoned control, dynamic lighting, and scenario-based coordination, as well as compatibility with mainstream protocols such as Matter, Nurmina can create the atmosphere users want. In short, SpaceMind enables AI to understand physical spaces, while WallEX enables spaces to respond to user needs.

 

SpaceMind Enables AI to Truly Understand Physical Spaces

For a space to truly understand natural human language, controlling devices is only part of the challenge. The key is to understand users, perceive the environment, and make decisions in complex situations.

In June this year, iFLYTEK unveiled the SpaceMind Agentic architecture for smart spaces. Serving as the AI brain of a smart space, SpaceMind integrates intent understanding, environmental perception, task planning, memory, and decision-making into a unified spatial intelligence system, enabling AI to progress from understanding a sentence to understanding an entire scenario.

For response speed, SpaceMind uses a dual-routing and dual-model architecture. High-frequency, straightforward control requests are handled quickly through the control route, with end-to-end response times of approximately 700 milliseconds. More complex needs involving semantic understanding, task planning, memory, and proactive reminders are sent through the reasoning route to a large language model for advanced processing.

Beyond understanding users, SpaceMind also needs to perceive the space around them. Using millimeter-wave radar and other sensing technologies, the system can provide centimeter-level positioning and detect subtle movements. It can identify the number of people in a space, distinguish people from pets, and recognize states such as standing still, moving, or falling. Compared with camera-based visual perception, this approach reduces image capture, can continue operating in darkness or smoke, and provides a more natural, privacy-conscious sensing experience for smart spaces.

 

At the device integration layer, SpaceMind and WallEX are compatible with mainstream devices and communication protocols including KNX, Zigbee, Matter, and Bluetooth, allowing smart devices from different brands and using different protocols to connect to a unified smart space system. SpaceMind thus creates a complete loop spanning need understanding, spatial perception, decision-making, and execution, while WallEX brings these capabilities into homes, hotels, offices, and other physical environments.

 

From Trade Show Demo to Real-World Projects, WallEX Accelerates Global Deployment

From the immersive demonstration at IFA to large-scale deployment in overseas commercial projects, the WallEX smart space solution is already being applied in real-world environments.

At The Pinnacle Jamaica, WallEX covers 140 residences and 200 hotel rooms, for a total of 340 spatial units. It connects lighting, curtains, air conditioning, sensors, and preset scenarios, while supporting offline voice control and multilingual interaction.

At the Bunyan Hotel project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, WallEX provides natural interaction in Arabic and English. It connects smart voice panels, switches, lighting, ambient lighting, presence sensors, and the hotel room management system. The solution supports welcome, relaxation, sleep, and other scenarios while meeting the hotel's needs for centralized management and energy optimization.

At JI Hotel Mekong in Vientiane, Laos, WallEX provides a bilingual Chinese-English smart guest-room experience. Its core capabilities can also operate offline, ensuring that essential room functions remain controllable even when the network connection is unstable.

These projects span different types of spaces, including residences and hotels, and demonstrate WallEX's practical capabilities in multilingual interaction, device connectivity, offline operation, and spatial coordination.

At IFA 2026, iFLYTEK demonstrated the real-world capabilities of the WallEX smart space solution through immersive experiences. Going forward, iFLYTEK will continue to deepen the integration of AI agents with physical spaces, enhance WallEX, expand its connected ecosystem, and broaden its application scenarios, bringing AI into more real-life and workplace environments.
