Technology adoption has been accelerated due to COVID-19, and we believe that all of us have a part to play in ensuring that it is put to good use. For AI competition 2021, we would like to invite anyone who is bold enough to take on the challenge to solve existing problems in the World. Many industries were disrupted and most are adapting. We could all do better with a combined knowledge and fresh perspective no matter how small they are. If you have an idea and some basic programming skills, you will be able to tap onto iFLYTEK’s open APIs to create something and contribute to the greater good. This challenge offers EXTRA service calls worth $3000 for you to play around and create. So, if you’ve always been wanting to try out iFLYTEK AI or get your hands down on that project you’ve been procrastinating on. This is the time.

We believe AI is a shared commodity and only with the participation of more people, can we truly leverage on the potential of this technology to serve our future.

1. The preliminary

iFLYTEK's Technical experts will conduct comprehensive scoring, and choose eight teams enter into the next semi-finals Match.

Scoring criteria:

Concept & Innovation (30 points)

Innovation is born out of creativity that bridges existing problem gaps. Your project and concept weighs 30% in this challenge. Be it charting new paths for smart cities or helping to solve a pain point in existing systems. As long as the idea has a potential market be it large or niche, and solves a problem, we are happy to have you amaze us.

Number of Service Call Activated or to be activated (30 points)

This technical portion holds a heavy weight as it showcases the activity and usability of your concept. Simple - the more service call activated or to be activated in your project, the better the score. This shows us that your concept and idea has a demand!

Number of Varieties of AI service/solutions Acquired or to be acquired (10 points)

AI services & solutions available:

Short Form ASR (Automated Speech Recognition)

Converts short audio (< 1 min.) to text. Applicable to real-time scenarios, such as voice search, voice command control, and voice short message. Short Form ASR can be integrated into various applications.

Online TTS (Text to Speech)

Converts text to natural speech. Online TTS provides a variety of voices and allows you to adjust the speed, intonation, and volume. It is ideal for scenarios such as intelligent customer service, audio book, and broadcasting.

Machine Translation

Machine Translation provides high-quality translation between Chinese and languages covering English, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Hindi, Russian, etc

Pronunciation Assessment

Test your pronunciation in Mandarin and English covering dimensions of fluency, accuracy and integrity. It is ideal for scenarios such as language test, teaching aids and language learning apps.

Real-time ASR (Automated Speech Recognition)

Converts audio streams into text in real time. It is ideal for scenarios with high requirements for real-time response, such as real-time transcription for live videos, meetings, and court trials.

Optical Character Recognition

Converts images of typed, handwritten or printed text into machine-encoded text. It is ideal for scenarios such as document archiving and smart scoring. Currently only simplified Chinese & English is supported.

Intelligent Video Conferencing Solution

It converts voice into text in real time and the accuracy has reached practical standards which is suitable for all kinds of meetings.

A.I. Virtual Anchor Solution

With speech synthesis, face modeling, image processing, etc., it has realized the automatic output of text to video with multi languages support.

Intelligent Transportation Solution

iFLYTEK Transportation solutions provide passenger information broadcast, order reminders, addressing navigation and other functions. Each function can be customized to make travel more intelligent.

Real-time Audio Translation Solution

Convert an unlimited audio stream into text in real time, and output multilingual text content. It could be widely used in multilingual live streaming, conference simultaneous interpretation to break language barriers.

To give the product a sound image, we provide a complete set of customizable speakers and create an exclusive sound library tailored to the product.

If your idea only requires 1 type of AI service, it’s fine. If it requires all 4, the more the merrier. This criteria goes hand in hand with criteria 2. We will assess the volume of activations and par it with the variety of services you work with. For eg. If your project uses 1 service but draws in a high volume of activation, you will earn a higher score than using 2/3/4 services/solutions with low volume.

Clear thinking of operation model, profit model and development plan;

2. semi-finals Match

All 8 teams will demonstrate their ideas via zoom meeting demonstration, and top 3 teams will be selected to the final. During this part, judges will give scores relying on the following criteria:

3. Final

Match Rules:

a. The top three teams in the city semi-finals gathered in Hefei, Anhui or join via zoom meetings and competed in the finals during the Global 1024 Developers Festival.

b. The participating team must present to the audience and the judges on the spot or via zoom, and make a demonstration with slides.

c. The judges are product and technical experts invited by the organizer;

d. The judges will score teams according to the above scoring criteria. The final score of the participant will be the average number of other points except one highest mark and one lowest mark.

e. The top three teams will be decided based on the final score.

Scoring criteria:

· Feasibility (40 points)

Perfect functions, smooth interaction, good on-site demonstration effects, clear business model / market strategy, promising application scenarios with highlight functions;

· Technical skills (30 points)

Deep application of AI technology with exceptional developing skills. Innovation, application and reasonable system design of product will also be considered.

· On-site demonstration / demonstration via zoom (30 points)

After on-site demonstration was completed, there will be a question and answer session between participating teams and the judges.

Requirements for submission

1.The Preliminary

◆ Project plan (document naming 【team name + product name】)

Specific requirements:

a. Content

1) Name of the work: Name of the submitted work

2) Work function list: Explain the basic functions, product features, core advantages, etc. of the planned product;

3) Applicable scenarios: In what scenarios, describe the core problem to be solved (user pain points);

4) Technical Architecture: which technologies and what AI capabilities/ solutions on iFLYTEK Open Platform are planned to be adopted;

5) Product demo: if there is, it can be submitted; if not, it can not be submitted.

6) Business model: Briefly introduce which operation model, profit model, and development plan will be adopted;

7) Team introduction: the resume introduction of the project leader, core members, company / team structure, and partner resources, etc .;

8) Declaration of originality of the project: promise to submit the originality and authenticity of the plan and the results, if the resulting intellectual property disputes are borne by the participants themselves;

b. Format

1) 【Required】The project plan should be submitted in PDF or PPT format, and the file size is within 100MB;

2) 【Optional】In order to better explain the plan, the participating teams can provide products, DEMO, video, pictures, etc. as supplements;

3) If there are multiple files, please compress and submit as a zip file;

c. Deadline for submission of works

The deadline for submission of entries for the preliminary round is 17:00 on August 13 (August 143-August 20 is the period for judging the works), and the list of finalists will be announced at 10:00 on August 21.

2. Semi-finals

◆ Product demo (modules, functional prototypes, small batch products, formal products are available)

◆ Instruction document (document naming 【team name + product name】)

1) Overview: an overall introduction of the product;

2) Scheme description: tools used, technical scheme, method, necessary configuration operation instructions, dependence on equipment, etc .;

3) Detailed introduction: introduction of each function and its realization method;

4) Test result: explain the performance of the demo in the reality;

5) Project originality statement: Participants should promise the originality and authenticity for their products and plans, the resulting intellectual property disputes shall be borne by the participants themselves

3. Final

◆ On-site demonstration of the physical objects, functional prototypes, small batch products and formal products are all acceptable. (Optional)
